The short ride for travelers on limited time, taking in Quan Ba, Tham Ma Pass and Ma Pi Leng with a night in Dong Van, and never once feeling rushed.
Overview
Two days built for travelers who only have a weekend but still want the real Ha Giang. You climb through Quan Ba to the Twin Mountains, ride the switchbacks of Tham Ma, walk through the H'mong king's mansion, and spend the night in Dong Van old town.
Day two saves the biggest for last, Ma Pi Leng above the Nho Que River, then the villages around Meo Vac and the weavers of Lung Tam on the way back. It's a short trip that never feels like a checklist, in a group of no more than ten with a local rider handling every pass.

Itinerary
Here's how the two days actually run, timed so you ride in daylight and make the most of every stop along the way.
Weather and road conditions in the mountains change quickly, so your guide may reorder a stop or two along the way. Whatever changes, it's always to keep the ride safe and the day enjoyable.
Evening limousine transfer and overnight rest in Ha Giang.
Limousine pickup from Hanoi
Your limousine picks you up in Hanoi and departs for Ha Giang. Settle in for the overnight transfer north.
Arrive in Ha Giang
Arrive in Ha Giang, check in, and rest overnight before the first day of the journey begins.
Mountain gates, H'mong villages, winding passes, and an evening in Dong Van.
Meet at Serenity Ha Giang office
Meet your guide and rider in Ha Giang Town. We check the plan for the day, prepare your gear, and make sure your luggage is ready before the ride begins.
Start the journey
Leave Ha Giang Town and begin climbing into the limestone mountains. The first part of the route eases you into the loop with open roads, green valleys, and the first real taste of the highlands.
Quan Ba Heaven Gate
Stop for sweeping views of Quan Ba's Twin Mountains and the valley below. This is one of the classic first viewpoints of the Ha Giang Loop, and a gentle introduction to the scale of the landscape.
The dramatic pass day: canyon roads, ethnic villages, craft traditions, and the ride home.
Breakfast in Dong Van
Have breakfast and get ready to continue the loop. Today is the more dramatic riding day, with high passes and deep valleys before returning to Ha Giang Town.
Ma Pi Leng Pass
Ride one of Vietnam's most legendary mountain roads. Ma Pi Leng is the kind of place that makes the group naturally go quiet for a moment: steep cliffs, open sky, and the feeling of being very small in the best possible way.
Meo Vac, Ta Lung, and Mau Due villages
Continue through Meo Vac and the villages around Ta Lung and Mau Due. The road moves through limestone valleys, small settlements, and changing mountain textures, giving you a fuller sense of life on the loop.

THE SERENITY DIFFERENCE
He knows these passes in every season, reads the weather, the curves and the light, so you feel safe and still get the best of the ride.
We stop in villages with the permission and warmth of the families who live there, so every visit feels genuine and welcome.
Every rider gets proper protective gear and an experienced local easy rider who handles the steep bends, so a short trip still feels like a safe one.
Two days is enough time to reach Quan Ba, Tham Ma and Ma Pi Leng and still stop for photos, a slow lunch and a wander through Dong Van. We packed the highlights in without packing out the calm.
STAYS & MEALS
You sleep close to the route every night, in warm, local places we know well and eat well in. Both a private room and a dorm bed are available on every night of the tour.
On Dong Van nights you stay at Serenity Dong Van House, our own place in the heart of the old town. Rooms are private and self-contained, finished in local highland style, with the old quarter's streets and cafes a minute from the door.
On other nights you sleep in a family homestay in villages like Meo Vac or Pa Vi. The rooms are simple and the welcome is warm, and dinner is whatever the family cooked, shared around a low table.
Expect to eat well and local. Mornings start with Ha Giang banh cuon in warm broth, and dinners bring dishes like black chicken hotpot, mountain pork and men men, rounded off with a glass of corn wine.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Two days is enough for a first taste of Ha Giang, especially if your time in Vietnam is limited. The journey moves at a quicker pace than our longer tours, but you’ll still experience mountain passes, valleys, villages and some of the landscapes that make Ha Giang worth travelling this far north for.
It can feel more active because we have less time to cover the route. Expect several hours on the motorbike each day, broken up by viewpoints, meals and stops along the way. If you’re comfortable with a full day outdoors and some long stretches on mountain roads, you should be fine.
This trip works best for travellers with limited time who still want to experience Ha Giang rather than skip it altogether. If you prefer slower mornings, longer village stops and more time away from the main route, we recommend choosing our 3D2N or 4D3N journey instead.
Yes. Ha Giang isn’t only something we want you to see from the back of a motorbike. Even on the shorter route, we want you to have moments where you can get off the bike, walk around and see a little of everyday life in the mountains.
You’ll spend several hours riding each day, but we don’t ride continuously from morning until evening. There are stops for food, viewpoints, villages and places worth getting off the bike for. On a two-day trip, however, expect more riding time and a quicker rhythm than on our longer routes.
Choose 2D2N when time is tight and you still want a real taste of Ha Giang. Choose 3D2N for a better balance between riding and exploring. If you have four days, 4D3N gives us the most freedom to slow down, spend longer in the mountains and take you beyond the places most Loop travellers see.
