A room on this route has one job, to make the next day's ride possible. That means a real bed, hot water and a door that shuts, and it also means waking up somewhere that could only be Ha Giang.

We run our own house in Dong Van and work with the same families year after year, and it's no different in Cao Bang or Lan Ha. Every stay is picked for comfort and for the story it tells, from the hosts to the culture around it.
